JV AgriIndustries, LLC is a newly established company whose company is named in honor of my parents “James and Vera Phills,” and AgriIndustries reflects their share-cropping experience which they endured for most of their lives, and the diversity of agricultural industries and related enterprises that our company will become engaged in going forward.
Our primary focus is in production agriculture with emphasis is on Hemp. We propose to contract with small farmers (5+) acres as a minimum. The intent is to recapture and put back into production thousands of family farms owned by small limited resource farmers or lands previously farmed but not currently used for agricultural purposes. Much of this land is either leased out, abandoned, or just growing up into poor undesirable tree and bush growth or leased to majority farmers for money to pay property taxes, leaving little for nothing else to include succession planning.
JV AgriIndustries coupled with B&G Farms will use the newly deschedulized Hemp agricultural crop to jump start a new industry of small hemp farmers/growers, processors and seed producers through genetic improvement and strains/cultivar development. This crop was chosen because of its high economic returns on small acreage and its broad range of industrial uses for this agricultural crop. Hemp offers the potential for long-term sustainability, high economic returns, and succession family planning. This is something that goes lacking within the small family farm planning, especially among minority small farmers whose offspring want no part of farming or agriculture in general because of the stigma of exceedingly hard work and little or no economic returns for their family, thus leaving an unforgettable negative image of eternal poverty, and no educational pathway to economic stability and overall quality of life.
JV AgriIndustries in collaboration with B&G Farms and Consultant Services recently received application approval to secure grower, processor, and seed producer licenses which these two companies now hold in Louisiana. Additionally, we are strongly considering expansion into other southern states requesting our services possibly in 2021, and in 2022, dependent on available financial resources. Chief among these states under expansion consideration are Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas. This expansion will allow us to grow, process, and produce seed in these states thereby expanding our footprint of serving small disadvantaged farmers and veterans throughout the Southern United States and elsewhere.
